The management of The Herald announced that starting Oct. 1, the subscription rates would be raised from $1.50 to $2 a year.

The Martinsburg reading room was to be formally opened to the public on Thursday evening next to the postoffice.

The Eichelberger, Earlenbaugh & Company store on the southwest corner of the Square in Martinsburg changed hands, being sold to Blair R. Bice and Arthur E. Martz.

Prof. and Mrs. Karl H. Beck, who recently had returned to America from China where they had served as missionaries, were tendered a reception at the local Reformed church.
