Ask the Williamsburgers

Series: Williamsburg | Story 96

Remember the excitement of waking up on the day of your classroom field trip? With today’s COVID pandemic, schools are unsure of how field trips are going to look, or if they are even going to happen.

This made me think – What was your favorite field trip growing up? Here is what a few had to say:

Lou Ann Grove: Senior class trip to NYC.

Patrick Detwiler: Gettysburg, Pa.

Jason Eggleston: Band trip to Pittsburgh (Dan Marino’s senior year) when I wasn’t in the band

Sheryl Hart: Class trip to NYC in 1968. Along with the fun, I remember the Museum of Natural History. I could have stayed there for days.

Trisha Salome: In elementary school, I always loved the Mishler. In high school, we did so many with band and chorus. Canada and Florida top the list.

John Fay: Class of 1958; NYC and Washington, D.C. senior class trip

Melanie Hughes: 6th-grade trip to Washington D.C.

Linda Lemin: Senior trip to Sea World

Cindy Blontz: NYC

Janelle Hoffman: Washington, D.C., 9th grade in 1997

Bonnie Bahel: Washington, D.C.

Goldie Simpson: Elementary school was our first patrol trip to Washington, D.C. First trip away from parents and was with friends. In high school, it was Disney World. Just a fun trip in general.

Cheryl Stotler-Teeters: Washington, D.C.

Marge Troxell: Senior class trip to Cedar Point

Veronica Barroner: Longwood Gardens

Jo Holland: 1974, Ireland with the band. It was great to see another country, and the homecoming was even better. It is so great that our little town comes out with such tremendous support for our school.

John Walker: There was only one I can remember, 9th grade, Harrisburg.
