Williamsburg Looks to Change Noise Ordinance

In 2019, Williamsburg Borough Council updated its noise ordinance that residents of the borough could make “noise” until 11 p.m. Now, council may be changing its tune.

After garnering several complaints from residents about construction noise, Mayor Ted Hyle suggested that council look into changing the time. It was suggested that council look into outside noise ordinances such as Hollidaysburg’s who have an exception for items like snowblowers for residents who need to plow snow for work the next day. Mayor Hyle said he and Chief of Police Rowdy Kagarise would look into it for the next meeting.

The demolition of the property on 424/426 W. First St. will require a public hearing before next month’s meeting – Monday, Oct. 5.

Following AmTrust recommendations for Worker’s Compensation insurance, council established four new policies – Safety Program, Distracted Driving Policy, Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Risk Management Policy. Ed Patterson made the motion to accept policies for employees with Jon Detwiler seconding; the motion passed.

Council delayed action on Trick or Treat, saying it would decide at October’s meeting.
