Power Reunion Prepares for 30th Show

The Southern Cove Power Reunion (SCPR) will host its 30th annual show Sept. 18-20 at the SCPR show grounds near New Enterprise.

The non-profit organization has worked steadily since 1999 to acquire the 47-acre tract that the club's several annual events are held on.

The power reunion features a different brand of farm machinery each year. This year Massey Ferguson tractors and farm equipment will be featured. Attendees may purchase tickets for a chance to win a John Deere tractor.

The annual celebration will have daily demonstrations and tractor pulls Friday and Saturday evening. The club has made numerous improvements including moving the show tractors and demonstrations back out to the front of the showgrounds. Visitors can see demonstrations of grain threshing, straw baling, binding corn, corn chopping, saw milling and shingle making.

The event will also have a tractor parade daily at 1 p.m. Antique tractor pulls will be held Friday at 5 p.m. and the classic and farm stock pull will be Saturday at 5 p.m.

The grounds will host a huge display of hit-and-miss engines, lawn tractors and smaller demonstrations. The event will also have a flea market.

Plenty of food will be available. A chicken barbecue will be offered both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the Power Reunion's kitchen, outside food vendors will include the Cove Lions, Mike Koontz Concessions and Sipes BBQ. Koontz Concessions will serve breakfast at 7 a.m. daily.

A church service is planned for 8:30 a.m.

The Power Reunion started in 1991 when it held its first fall show at the former Replogle Elementary school sponsored by the Southern Cove Vol. Fire Co. Within a few years the event had grown and the SCPR was incorporated.

The organization's goal is to promote the agricultural history of the community, Bedford County and the surrounding area.

The Power Reunion is located at 145 Cave Road in New Enterprise. Dogs are not permitted on the show grounds.
