Junior Livestock Clubs Announce Scholarship Winners

The Blair County Junior Livestock clubs presented scholarships to the following recipients at the Livestock Show, held in August at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg.

$1500 Scholarship

Recipients (first-year scholarships):

Lindsey Kensinger

Daughter of Denny and Jody Kensinger of Williamsburg

2020 graduate of Central High School

Plans to attend Penn State majoring in elementary and early childhood education

Livestock club involvement: Central Cove FFA, 4-H Little Cow Tails Club

Has exhibited dairy beef and goats for approximately 10 years

Activities include: Central Cove FFA Vice President, FFA State Degree Winner, FFA Public Speaking, Central Tennis Team, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church

Adam Uplinger

Son of Aaron and Julie Uplinger of Williamsburg

2020 graduate of Williamsburg High School

Plans to attend Geneva College majoring in business and finance

Livestock club involvement: Swine 4-H Club, Lamp Chops 4-H Club, Little Cow Tails 4-H Club, Williamsburg FFA

Has exhibited swine, lambs, and dairy beef for approximately 10 years

Activities include: FFA State Degree Winner, Envirothon Team, Livestock Judging Team, Williamsburg football, basketball and track and field teams, concert band, Williamsburg CMA Church youth group

Kaylee McClain

Daughter of Shawn and Jody McClain of Martinsburg

2020 graduate of Central High School

Plans to attend Mount Aloysius College majoring in nursing

Livestock club involvement: Little Cow Tails 4-H Club, Central Cove FFA, 4-H Swine Club

Has exhibited dairy beef and pigs for approximately 10 years

Activities include: Central Cove FFA chaplain, FFA State Degree Winner, Central track and tennis teams, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church

Victoria Longenecker

Daughter of Douglas and Yvette Longenecker of Williamsburg

2020 graduate of Central High School

Plans to attend Penn State University majoring in biological engineering

Livestock club involvement: Lamb Chops 4-H Club, Blair County Goat 4-H Club, Blair County Baby Beef Club, Blair County Swine 4-H Club, Central Cove FFA

Has exhibited lambs, swine, goats, and beef for approximately 10 years

Activities include: Central Cove FFA President, FFA State Degree Winner, FFA public speaking, Grace Brethren Church, Central soccer, basketball and softball teams, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Student Council, World Language Club

Jack Hileman

Son of Adam and Amy Hileman of Williamsburg

2020 graduate of Williamsburg High School

Plans to attend Central PA Institute of Science and Technology majoring in natural gas compression

Livestock club involvement: Swine 4-H Club, Little Cow Tails 4-H Club, Williamsburg FFA

Has exhibited swine and dairy beef for approximately 10 years

Activities include: Williamsburg FFA, FFA State Degree Winner, attended the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, Fairview Church of the Brethren, Williamsburg baseball team, student council, National Technical Honor Society

2019 graduate of Central High School

Enrolled at Penn State University majoring in animal science

Livestock club involvement: Swine 4-H Club, Lamb Chops 4-H Club, Little Cow Tails 4-H Club, Central Cove FFA

Has exhibited lambs, swine, dairy beef, and rabbits for approximately 11 years

Activities include: Central Cove FFA (former president), FFA public speaking, dairy judging team, former PA Alternate Dairy Princess, former Blair County Dairy Princess, PSU Dairy Science Club, Fairview Church of the Brethren

Yvonne Longenecker

Daughter of Douglas and Yvette Longenecker of Williamsburg

2018 graduate of Central High School

Enrolled at Penn State University majoring in food science
