The Old Folks Home at Martinsburg was the scene of the annual social gathering on Saturday, with church workers and friends from far and near attending. A basket picnic was enjoyed at noon.
At the business meeting a number of addresses were made and reports given. It was brought out that the Home had been established 26 years before at Shirleysburg, Huntingdon County, by the churches of the Middle District of the Church of the Brethren, but that three years later was transferred to Martinsburg, with Rev. W.S. Long of Altoona as the first steward here.
The Farmers’ Reunion held near Henrietta brought together about 15,000 people. There were about 2,000 automobiles about the grounds and a special train brought visitors. The outing was marred by rain.
A community picnic held in the grove a short distance south of Woodbury on Saturday was largely attended. At noon the picnickers gathered around a table 110 feet long. This table was filled several times.
