Tomato Harvest Begins

Herald of August 9, 1945

The tomato harvest in the Cove will start with Thursday and Friday being the days tentatively set.

The Wagner building on N. Market is in the hands of painters this week. The color is cream with the window sash trimmed in black.

Janice Ebersole, little 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ebersole residing between Martinsburg and Curryville, met with a painful accident Friday when walking behind the wagon which was hauling baled hay into the barn at their home.

A bale of hay rolled off the wagon and struck the child, knocking her down and breaking her right leg just above the ankle.

John S. Miller, saw mill operator living near Woodbury, is engaged in moving his mill from what has been known as the Witaker hickory bottom woodland, now the Davis farm in Piney Creek, to the former farm of Charles Acker in the Clover Creek section, above Beavertown.

A meeting for potato growers of the Cove was to be held at the farm home of Aaron Stern in Taylor township the coming Monday evening.
