The Memorial Church of the Brethren is distributing milk July 9. The event is made possible by various local dairy organizations. This milk distribution event is part of the Federal CARES Act, the Corona Food Assistance Program, and the Family Food Box Program.
Joe Diamond, regional organization director of Region 4 of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, explained that the milk is free and based on need, although no proof of need is required.
The milk being distributed comes from Clover Farms in Reading, Pa., and is available at a number of different locations. The milk is to be distributed July 9, and July 10, although some businesses distributed it July 8.
This distribution is the third load that the local dairy industry has sponsored since the coronavirus outbreak. Diamond explained that funds for this distribution were not available in March, but they have had distributions in May and June. They also plan to have a distribution day in August.
Diamond said that he "is glad" that the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is able to support those in need during this time.
Memorial Church of the Brethren has 300 gallons of milk to give out, and the church asked those interested to sure to stop by and get it while it’s cold.
The Memorial Church event organizers said thanked Imler’s Poultry for storing the milk to be distributed.
