Roaring Spring Municipal Authority Customers Under 'Boil Water' Notice Until Monday

Crews are working to resolve multiple water line breaks in the borough

All customers of the Roaring Spring Municipal Authority are on a "boil water" notice until at least Monday, June 15.

The borough experienced at least three water main breaks starting around 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, according to borough officials. The break has caused water shortages and a lack of water service for large sections of the borough.

The first break apparently occurred on Spring Street, near the Spring Dam. Then a second break occurred on Main Street and then a third near the entrance to the Appvion Spring Mill. Officials were uncertain of the cause, but said that in some cases, the pressure changes occurring from one break can cause second main breaks, especially in old lines.

Crews have been working to resolve the problems since 10 a.m. Thursday. There was no timeline provided for the repairs to be completed. Crews will work until the matter is resolved, and borough officials asked for patience.

Customers who get water service from the Roaring Spring Municipal Authority should boil water until further notice.
