Central High School senior Braden Kitt recently announced that he plans to continue his athletic career at the collegiate level. He will attend Lock Haven University in the fall, and has been contacted by LHU's basketball coach who has offered him a spot on the university's basketball team.
Braden, the son of William and Jessica Kitt of Roaring Spring, said he plans to major in education at LHU. "My father played football at LHU, so that definitely makes playing a sport here a lot more special to me as well," Braden said.
Other colleges Kitt considered were Penn State Altoona and Franciscan. "LHU has a lot of great things going for them academically and athletically, and I feel that this will be the best fit for me as a student and athlete," Kitt
Said Central boys' basketball coach Paul Frederick, "Braden has certainly left his mark on our basketball program over the past three seasons. He has worked very hard to become the player that he is today. His versatility on offense and work ethic on the defensive end will allow him to compete at the next level. He has been a great leader and his teammates and coaches couldn't be happier for him."
Kitt said he didn't start to like the game of basketball until the seventh grade. "I played travel hockey up until sixth grade and then I was forced to make a decision between continuing to play hockey or to play basketball for the school. Ever since that decision, I have had a love and passion for the sport of basketball through my middle school and high school career.
