Herald of May 28, 1920
The biggest news event during the past week in the vicinity of Martinsburg was the community birthday celebration held in honor of Mrs. Elizabeth Camerer, who on Friday had reached the age of 100 years.
Neighbors, friends and relatives came and went in the forenoon, afternoon and evening. In the afternoon a program was carried out with the speakers being Rev. Fred R. Zook and Lee B. Stoudnour. Hymns were sung by two great-granddaughters.
Her health was good, although she was not able to move about without help because of a broken hip which she had sustained some years before.
In the evening the Martinsburg band rendered a number of selections. Two birthday cakes were presented.
The aged woman was a native of Franklin county, her maiden name being Elizabeth Horn, but she came to the Cove when quite young and had lived in the Camerer homestead dwelling for about 90 years. Her husband James Camerer, had been dead for some years.
