The Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches met Wednesday evening, April 15, to discuss several events coming up in the spring. Leading the agenda was the Lezzer Lumber High School All-Star football game.
With issues rising about the availability of the actual football field, the recent announcement by the PIAA and the order coming from Gov. Tom Wolf’s office, the CPFCA has announced the cancellation of this year’s Lezzer Lumber All-Star football game. Not only were these factors an issue with the game, but the coaches felt that the safety of the players, coaches and fans was, foremost, the major factor in this decision.
The CPFCA did agree on several items regarding the game. One item discussed and approved was the making of a game jersey for each player and distribute them to the players later this summer. Another item bantered around was the introduction of this year’s team at next years’ game.
The coaches moved on to discuss the 2020 Combine held at Bald Eagle High School and the golf outing. Both events were scheduled in the next five weeks. It was agreed upon by the coaches that they would postpone these events until later in the summer and further action would be addressed at the May meeting. Coaches involved with these two events (Tom Shearer and Jim Zauzig) will attempt to find a new date for these events before the May meeting. Unofficially, the golf outing could be re-set for July 12 if approved.
All parents are told to return any sponsorship checks to their business sponsor. Jim Zauzig will be in touch with all players/parents in June regarding the game jersey and their distribution.
The coaches felt a strong need to apologize to these players and parents regarding this decision.
