National Library Week is April 19 through April 25, so you still have time to celebrate.
This year the American Library Association is celebrating libraries’ resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most libraries in the United States have closed their physical buildings, but many libraries have continued services online.
The original theme chosen for the 2020 Library Week was “Find your Place at the Library,” but that has been changed to “Find the Library at your Place.”
Many libraries throughout the nation have extended renewal policies, expanded library services like e-books and have streaming media and virtual programing.
The Blair County Library System includes eight libraries including Williamsburg, Roaring Spring, Martinsburg and Claysburg. Access to all of the Blair County libraries is possible with one card. On-line services available are Cloud Library, which gives free access to e-books and e-audio books; Power Library, which resources include literature, school resources, health and science resources, newspapers and magazines, books, Spanish language resources and business information. Tumblebooks is a resource for school resources, juvenile books and audiobooks.
If you can donate to the library at this time you can send your donation directly to one of the libraries. Join the Friends of the Library, select a book in memory of a loved one to give when the library opens, or gather used books to donate to the next library book sale.
