A 15-year-old Williamsburg boy will be tried as an adult for his part in a stabbing incident.
Unable to post the $500,000 bail, a 15-year-old Williamsburg boy is awaiting his preliminary hearing in the Blair County Prison.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, at approximately 11:56 a.m., April 15, police spoke with Rebecca Detwiler.
Detwiler claimed that she was a home nurse and was called to the Woodbury Township home to provide care. When she had finished with the visit, the client’s juvenile grandson said that he would walk out with her.
According to Detwiler, the juvenile “hit me, and then he knocked me down, stabbed me several times with a very long I don’t know what it was.”
She managed to retreat to her car and drive to another location.
Detwiler was then transported by EMS to UPMC Altoona, where she was treated for her injuries. UPMC Altoona medical staff confirmed serious injuries consistent with multiple lacerations/stab wounds. The victim was operated on for her serious injuries.
According to PSP records, at approximately 12:03 a.m., April 16, police arrived at the Woodbury Township home and as they approached the home observed a juvenile looking out the window.
Troopers requested that the juvenile exit the residence and he did so without incident. It was noted that this juvenile matched the physical description provided to them by the victim.
Troopers obtained permission from the juvenile’s mother to speak with him.
The juvenile told troopers he stabbed Detwiler and showed them where he put the knife, which police described as a green, large blade with a black handle approximately 18 inches in length.
The juvenile was taken to PSP Hollidaysburg station where he agreed to speak about the incident.
Detwiler was at the house to check on the juvenile’s grandfather who had fallen earlier in the evening.
According to police, approximately 15 minutes before Detwiler left the home, the juvenile went outside, retrieved the sword from the trunk of a vehicle and stuck it into the ground behind the vehicle.
The juvenile then escorted Detwiler to her car, grabbed the sword and struck Detwiler in the neck from behind as she stood at her open car door.
The juvenile claimed that he continued to strike Detwiler, knocking her to the ground. At one point, Detwiler grabbed the sword but the juvenile pulled it away.
According to the juvenile, he stopped the attack, Detwiler pushed him away then she got into her car and drove away.
According to police, the juvenile reported that he then washed his hands and legs, changed his clothes and hid the soiled clothing. He then prepared food for his mother and stepfather and served it to them upstairs.
The juvenile was arraigned before Magisterial District Justice Paula M. Aigner. Bail was set at $500,000.
The juvenile was committed to the Blair County Prison where he awaits a preliminary hearing set for April 28 on two first-degree felony charges of attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault, one second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault and several misdemeanor charges.
