There is a serial killer on the loose in Los Angeles who is targeting families. The unsub (“unknown subject”) states he is the Legion of the Night and becomes know as The Midnight Man. He steals into homes that contain a family unit – a father, mother and at least one child. He comes for the parents and leaves the children as tiny witnesses.
FBI Behavioral Analyst Caitlin Hendrix comes to Los Angeles to do what she does best – hunt a serial killer. This case becomes personal for Caitlin. It is discovered that the Midnight Man may be the son of a police detective. This mirrors Caitlin’s life; she was the daughter of a police detective who spent most of his career looking for a specific criminal. This affected Caitlin’s youth and haunts her still today. The Midnight Man case will test her skills and dedication.
This is the third book in Meg Gardiners “Unsub” (Unknown Subject) fiction series. “Unsub,” the first book, was inspired by the Zodiac Killer. “Into the Black Nowhere,” the second book, was inspired by Ted Bundy. There is no definitive information on who “The Dark Corners of the Night” is inspired by, but some say it sounds like Richard Ramirez.
Even though this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel. Do not pass up this great read just because you haven’t read the first two books. This is a book you will not be able to put down. It grabs your interest from the very first page and continues until the very last sentence.
