The Claysburg-Kimmel School Board approved a budget for a Safety and Security grant.
Among the items included in the $141,000 grant is the addition of a guidance counselor and the upgrades to a key fob entry system in the district’s buildings. A key fob is a keyless remote device that allows entry into a building or restricted area of a building.
The school district will begin a new math series in 2020-21 for kindergarten through 12th grade at a cost of $82,236.
The board approved a plan for athletic facilities at the high school. The $3.42 million project will include work on the football, baseball and junior high softball field, bleachers and press box; a new varsity softball field; lighting; concession stands; walkways; maintenance building; drainage; and a new outdoor basketball court.
The district hopes to put bids out for the project before the end of the current school year.
A planned meeting on April 1 was considered to be the board’s official monthly meeting, as the April 8 meeting has been cancelled.
