Duncansville
Ronald C. Conley, 77, of Duncansville, died unexpectedly, Thursday, April 2, 2020.
He was born May 3, 1942, in Irvona, son of the late Harold and Catherine (Westover) Conley. He married Richanda "Rickey" Albright on April 2, 1967, in Claysburg.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter Tamara (Conley) Lange and spouse Donald, five granddaughters: Talia Mazzetti Trauger and spouse Jason, Tarissa Mazzetti, Meganne Diehl and spouse Jesse, Courtney Lange and Hannah Lange; two great-granddaughters: Charlotte Diehl and Alexis Trauger; brother-in-law Stephen Albright; mother-in-law Norma Albright; three sisters: Deborah Conley, Cathy Decker and Karen Elbin; three brothers: David, Dennis and Daniel Conley; many, many nieces and nephews and his beloved little dog Lilly.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Carolyn Conley and Judith Wolfe and a brother, Joseph Conley.
Ron was a member of the Claysburg United Methodist Church. He was a 1960 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the First Infantry Division, "The Big Red One," and fought in Vietnam. He was a machinist at SKF until the plant closed in 2004 and then rebuilt carburetors in his retirement.
Ron started drag racing in 1968, winning and finishing runner-up at many national-points races in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indy, Kentucky, Delaware and Canada, and setting records in the NHRA SS/IA in 1974 and SS/GTF in 1988 as well as racing locally. He won the NHRA Super Stock National championship in 1988 and 1992 and was Super Stock Sportsman of the year in 1988.
Ron was a friend to all and had a great sense of humor and loved to play the lottery. He was dearly loved by his wife, daughter, granddaughters and all his family and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date.
