Williamsburg

Betty K. Zimmerman, 94, Williamsburg, formerly of Indiana, passed away early Friday morning, April 3, 2020, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Charles E. and Alverta M. (Snare) Black. On November 15, 1946, she married Howard H. Zimmerman at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1983.

Surviving are four sons: Dan (Deborah) of Somerset, Don of Williamsburg, Rick of Indiana, and Kevin of Reedsville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; two sisters: Janet Michelone of Williamsburg and Judy Flaig of Tyrone; and two brothers: Ken (Helen) Black of Tyrone and Don Black of Atlanta, Ga.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Black, Jr.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Williamsburg High School, and worked as a telephone operator at United Telephone Co., Williamsburg, before moving to Indiana, where she worked at Brody's Department Store and served on the Election Board.

She was a member of Salem UCC, rural Martinsburg, and a former member of the Reformed Church, Williamsburg, where she served in the nursery class for seven years.

Betty was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, starting her membership in the Williamsburg chapter and later transferred to the Indiana chapter, where she served as the Worthy Matron.

She loved spending time with her family, friends from Indiana and visits from Pastor Betty Royer. Betty also enjoyed camping, reading and completing crossword puzzles.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, a private service and interment at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg, will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., http://www.bolgerfuneralhome.com, Williamsburg.
