Aiello Earns Eagle Scout

Jeremy Aiello, 16, a sophomore at Central High School, advanced to Eagle Scout rank during a Boy Scout Court of Awards ceremony held March 15. His service project was a major upgrade to a 25-year-old storage shed at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.

Northern Bedford school directors reviewed proposals for a 2010-11 general fund budget Monday evening that could include a half-mill property tax increase. Teri Biddle, business manager, presented a budget overview while administrators outlined needs within their schools.

Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary School welcomed Chris Rumble, author, illustrator, musician and motivator from Georgia, on Read Across America Day.

The Northern Bedford softball team returns 12 letterwinners in 2010, including eight starters.

“We have a very talented group of athletes returning this year,” said second-year head coach Christa (Vasas) Moyer. “Despite our youth, we should be able to have a very nice season.”
