Northern Bedford looked good early, jumping out to as big of a lead as 14 in the second quarter before Turkeyfoot, behind scoring sensation Tanner Colflesh, rallied for a 93-64 playoff win over the Panthers in a District 5 Class 1A playoff opener on Feb. 18.
Fifth-seeded NB held a 46-42 halftime edge but could only muster six points in the next 12 minutes of play as the hosts, seeded fourth, went on a 36-6 run. Tanner Colflesh, the Rams and state’s top scorer, went on a 40-point second half rampage en route to a 61-point individual performance. It was Colflesh’s, who averages 38.5 per game, top point total of the season.
“We played well early on but just tanked it offensively in the second half,” NB coach Randy Meck said. “We didn’t defend well the entire game, we just never executed our defensive game plan. It was frustrating.”
Caleb Diehl (14), Dakota Claar (13), and Hayden Foor (10) hit for double figures for the Panthers, who finished at 9-14.
