A suit brought by the Martinsburg Water Co. against the borough was settled before coming to trial. The borough is to pay $125 for water the first three years and $150 a year for the remaining seven years of the contract.
The previous week’s issue of the Morrisons Cove Herald was held at the post office until Monday because of the “impossible conditions” caused by a blizzard that closed highways and drifted shut railroad tracks from Thursday until Monday.
Joseph Burket of Lafayetteville crushed the index finger of his left hand while cutting corn fodder.
It was rumored that A.O. Deford purchased a lot next to the Odd Fellows Hall in Martinsburg from Daniel Brown and was planning to erect on it a dwelling house.
Jacob Kauffman purchased the Walter property in Woodbury.
Roscoe C. Brown hired a sleigh to take his pupils in the Martinsburg school on a sleigh ride on two separate evenings.
Charles J. Baker and Marcy Brown, both of Taylor Township, were married on Jan. 30, 1985.
