VIRGINIA R. RHINE

Duncansville

Virginia R. Rhine, 88, a resident at The Winds at Mattern Orchard, Duncansville, formerly of Fredericksburg, rural Martinsburg, passed away on Friday afternoon, Feb. 7, 2020, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing; a private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family by Pastor Betty Royer.

Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Virginia was born on May 17, 1931, in Roaring Spring, the daughter of the late Paul S. and M. Margaret (Smeltzer) Royer.

She married David E. Rhine on Dec. 29, 1953. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1996.

Virginia is survived by two children: Gary L. Rhine and wife Darlene of Roaring Spring and Carol A. Cherry and husband Neil of Hamburg, N.Y .; four grandchildren: Andrea Hill (JT), Brent Rhine, Shane Cherry and Justin Cherry (Charlene); and four great-grandchildren: Taylor and Tyler Hill and Aaliyah and Chase Cherry.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn J. Claar.

Virginia was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.

She was previously employed at Homewood at Martinsburg.

Virginia was a member of the United Church of Christ.
