Bellwood
James P. Simpson, 62, of Bellwood, formerly of Martinsburg and Saxton, passed away on Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.
A funeral was held on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., http://www.thompsonfh.com, Roaring Spring. Pastor Ed Jelliff officiated.
Interment was made in St. Luke's Cemetery, Saxton.
James was born on Dec. 19, 1957, in Altoona, the son of the late Clara K. (Taylor) Delaney.
He married Debra A. Baker on April 28, 1979, in Saxton.
James is survived by his wife; two sons: Christopher M. Simpson and wife Melissa of Bellwood and Tyler F. Simpson and wife Rochelle of Bellwood; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Dianna Miller of Woodbury; a niece, Rachel Miller; and a nephew, Douglas Miller.
He was a 1975 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School.
He was employed at the Saxton Foodliner for many years and had also been employed at R&R Vending, Saxton.
Jim was a member of Saxton United Methodist Church and had recently been attending New Life Alliance Church, East Freedom.
He enjoyed coaching and attending his son's sporting events, spending time with his grandkids, golfing and going to the beach.
Jim was a former member of the Martinsburg and Saxton volunteer fire departments.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be given to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 205 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10016; or the American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
