The cost of hooking up Martinsburg’s two new wells has been estimated at roughly $50,000 by Gwin Engineers of Altoona. The wells were drilled just east of town two years ago, but they were never connected with the borough water system because of the cost involved.
E. Wayne Ferry of 412 E. Christiana St., a member of borough council and water commissioner, told his fellow council members Monday night that he planned to resign his elected post.
The Council authorized the secretary to borrow $2,000 from a local bank to pay for the new police car.
Walter W. Campbell of Campbell, Rea, Hayes and Large, architectural firm, said during the dedication service for the Spring Cove Junior High School, Friday evening, Jan. 30, “If you were building this school now it would cost a half million dollars more than you paid.”
Jack Mock, Central High senior, was named to the Eastern Division of the Prep All-America Football team.
