NB Girls Score Road Victory

The Northern Bedford girls’ basketball team took the lead early and hung on for a 36-30 win on the road at Forbes Road on Jan. 21.

The Lady Panthers improved a three-point halftime lead to 27-20 by the end of the third period and with continued strong defense held off any hopes of a Lady Cardinal comeback.

“We did some things very well defensively tonight,” NB coach Jon Ewart said. “We are still struggling offensively, but our defense definitely won us this game.”

Madison Johnson scored 14 points and Makayla Hall added 10 to lead the Lady Panthers.

Deerin Davis’ 11-point effort in the junior varsity game propelled the Lady Panthers to a 34-9 win in the preliminary game.

Tussey Mt. 51, NB 28

Northern Bedford fell to 4-12 overall as a result of a 51-28 loss at Tussey Mountain on Jan. 24.

The Lady Panthers were competitive with the Lady Titans early, trailing just 12-7 after one period and 23-15 at the halftime break.

Tussey’s offense hit another gear in the third period as their lead grew to double digits while the Panthers offensive struggles continued.

Ashley Kichman had nine points to lead the Lady Panthers.

“We were scrappy and played hard but just couldn’t keep pace with them with our inability to put the ball in the basket,” NB coach Jon Ewart said.
