Dragons Sweep Opponents

The Central Dragon basketball team recorded three wins, two in the Mountain League, to improve its record to 13-5 on the season.

CHS 71, Forest Hills 52

On Jan. 20, the Dragons hosted Forest Hills (2-12) and won decisively 71-52. Central led 20-13 after one quarter and 41-26 at the half. After a huge third frame (22-10), Central was able to play a variety of players in the final quarter.

Hunter Klotz had 21 points, Braden Kitt 15 and Jacob Eberlin 12.

CHS 65, BEA 44

On Jan. 21, the team traveled to Wingate to battle Bald Eagle Area (5-10) and returned with a 65-44 victory. After an even 9-9 first quarter, the Dragons took a 30-21 advantage into halftime. The third frame was again evenly played before Central put the game away with a 20-9 fourth quarter.

Braden Kitt paced the team with 18 points, followed by Hunter Klotz with 16. Lleyton Kling added nine points, while Eli Lingenfelter tallied eight.

CHS 60, Bellefonte 49

On Jan. 24, the Dragons welcomed Bellefonte (5-9) and won 60-49. Central led 14-8 after one quarter and 25-16 at intermission. The Red Raiders hung around throughout the game, but the Dragons were able to expand their lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter and settled for a solid 60-49 victory.

Braden Kitt finished with 18 points and Hunter Klotz 14. Devon Boyles scored 10 and Jacob Eberlin added nine.

"We got everybody healthy and had a great week," CHS coach Paul Frederick said. "We got some great balance scoring and help from the bench. I think we're playing our best ball of the season now. We have four tough games these last two weeks and we'll find out how much improvement we've made since the first cycle."
