Junior High Dedication

Herald of Jan. 27, 1970

The Spring Cove Junior High School building will be formally presented to the school district by the architects during the dedication program to be held in the school’s auditorium. The dedication is the first public program scheduled in the auditorium, and school officials are hoping for a capacity audience to inaugurate its use. They have invited the public to attend. Two large-group instruction areas, normally closed off for classroom use, will be open to provide a total seating capacity of 848.

“The YMCA doesn’t need contributions – it needs people to sell ideas,” Louis J. Maierhofer of Altoona told membership workers for the Garver Memorial YMCA in Roaring Spring. Mr. Maierhofer, president of radio station WKMC, Roaring Spring, and an administrator with the Altoona Campus of the Pennsylvania State University, was the guest speaker at the kickoff dinner for the 1970 YMCA membership campaign. The speaker told the volunteer membership solicitors that he took an inventory of “What YMCA did for me.”
