'Mr. Community Center'

Marion Ebersole, 87-year-old Woodbury resident who was always busy fixing or building, earned the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Woodbury Area Community Center Board of Directors for his continuing support of the center.

W. Focht & Son, Altoona, was remodeling part of the Williamsburg Public Library for a new conference room. The work would include a new door and new carpet. The room would measure approximately 9 x 28 feet and would provide the library with growing space. The work was to be completed by the end of February.

Northern Bedford’s Lady Panthers claimed the Bedford County League lead by downing visiting Everett 61-53 on Jan. 12. The win marked the Lady Cats’ first victory over Everett in five years. Erin Drenning led the Lady Cats with 20 points, 20 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Randy Acker and Martinsburg Police Chief Richard A. Brantner reminded residents that making prank telephone calls to the fire company is not a laughing matter.
