WHS Rallies Past Mount Union

The Williamsburg boys’ basketball team rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to pull out a 64-52 victory over visiting Mount Union on Jan. 9.

Trailing 25-30, the Blue Pirates put together a 34-17 run in the second half.

Josiah Dowey drained three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Shane Brantner added 12 points.

Host Williamsburg improved to 7-2 on the season following an 84-33 victory over visiting Juniata Valley on Jan. 11. Ahead 20-12 after one quarter, the Blue Pirates broke the game open with a 29-10 advantage in the second quarter. WHS won the second half 35-11.

The Blue Pirates drained 11 3-pointers on the night, led by Josiah Dowey with four, Adam Uplinger three and Drew Hileman and Dylan James with two each.

Josiah Dowey scored 15 points, Peanut Wansley 15 and Adam Uplinger 10 for the Blue Pirates.
