Martinsburg

Edwin T. “Ted” Fletcher, 81, of Martinsburg, formerly of Waterside, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

Friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service today, Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Pastor David Ulm will officiate.

Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.

Edwin was born March 16, 1938, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Edwin C. and Grace E. (Eshelman) Fletcher.

He was united in marriage to L. Geraldine Bassler Feb. 21, 1960, at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. She preceded him in death Aug. 31, 1992.

Surviving are son Doyle Fletcher (fiancée Vicki Miller) of Martinsburg; daughter Sonja King of Huntingdon; grandson Curtis King of Front Royal, Va .; and sister Arlene Kagarise.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Fletcher; and sisters Barbara Fletcher and Sharon Watkins.

Edwin was a graduate of Replogle High School and worked as a route salesman for Ritchey‘s Dairy for many years.

He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren.

Edwin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following local, college and professional sporting events. He had a great passion for playing baseball, football, softball, tennis, and participated in league bowling.

Edwin enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family and friends.
