RS Council Welcomes New Members, Reorganizes
The Roaring Spring Borough Council held its reorganization meeting on Monday evening, Jan. 6.
Mayor Ron Glunt administered the oath of office to two new members as well as a sitting council member starting his second term.
Dane Noel and James Musselman were sworn in to begin their first terms, each having won a seat in last May's primary election. Rodney Green took the oath to begin his second term on council.
In a vote of five to two, Green was appointed council president. Kevin Snowberger was elected vice president by the same margin.
Green said he was humbled to be chosen as council president and pledged work with all council members for the good of the borough.
"First, I want to say thank you," Green said. "I've been on borough council for four years, and to now be serving as president is a very humbling honor. All the accomplishments council has achieved in the past have come from working together and I know we are going to continue to do that. I thank you for the opportunity and I know that we are going to look out for the best interest of the borough."
In other 2020 appointments, Gregory Wyandt will again lead the police department as chief along with Lt. Travis Clowson and Cpl. Lance Morris.
Lisa Peel was appointed borough manager, Michelle Bowser assistant secretary and Shari Lanzendorfer part-time secretary.
Wyatt Simington was appointed as maintenance supervisor, Richard Feltenberger sewer treatment plant operator and Doug Daughenbaugh and Shawn Dick street crew.
Keller Engineers was retained as the borough engineers.
Thomas Holsinger was appointed zoning officer and code enforcement officer and former council member Dennis Igou will remain the borough's emergency management coordinator. Keith Pote was named fire marshall.
Stephen Weaver was reappointed to a five-year term on the Roaring Spring Municipal Authority through 2024.
Todd Thompson and Keith Hall were named to the Civil Service Commission, Michael Metzgar to the Planning Commission and Jeryl Green, Jerry Ritchey and George Eckman to the Zoning Hearing Board.
Attorney Larry Lashinsky of Rea, Rea and Lashinsky Law Offices will once again serve as borough solicitor.
The Roaring Spring Borough Council will meet for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m. at the borough building.
