Alpha Beta Aids Your Safe Haven

The Projects Committee of the Alpha Beta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional honorary society of women educators, chose the making of fleece blankets for women and children receiving services through Your Safe Haven, Inc., Bedford County, as its community service project for 2019-2020. Your Safe Haven is dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The project was kicked off with a work session in October with several members meeting to prepare the fleece by cutting it. Then, the Roaring Spring Girl Scout Troop 43009 assisted by knotting the ends to complete the blankets. The first delivery to Your Safe Haven with eight blankets was made on Dec. 11, 2019.
