Cove Lions Club Assists Family

Charlie Clapper of New Enterprise passed away on Aug. 22, 2018. He left behind a handicapped daughter, Beth, and a disabled wife, Robin.

The Clappers have struggled with hardships throughout their lives. Beth was a small child when she was hurt on the family farm. She was left with paralysis and was severely handicapped and had to use a wheelchair.

Robin worked hard all her life until health issues left her also disabled and struggling to provide for her family. Their home is not handicapped-accessible and needed many repairs. Habitat for Humanity was contacted as an avenue for assistance. Fundraising and local donations were collected.

The Cove community rallied and raised $21,889 for the family. The family found a house that is somewhat better for them but needs repairs. This money will be presented to Robin Clapper and Keith Clapper.

The Cove Lions Club members said that they would like to thank the Cove community for giving and assisting the family in need.

The goal of the Cove Lions Club is to serve its community, and this is an example how they do that. But without the help and support of the local community and the Cove, the club could not do all that it does.

Fifteen thousand dollars of the money raised was placed into an account at Cove Lumber for the contractor to access as needed and upon written permission from the family.
