The closing of the decade of the 60s was marked with some very significant news events on the local scene as well as by the moon landings and other major events at the world and national level. Top among the local news stories was the completion and opening of the new Spring Cove Junior High School. The dedication of the $3 million structure will be held Jan. 30, but it has been in use since September, replacing the old Morrison Cove Junior High, which has been closed, and the Roaring Spring Junior High, which has been converted into an intermediate school.
