Almanacs for Sale for 5 Cents

The Herald was selling the Mennonite Family Almanac for 1895 at 5 cents a copy for either the English or German language edition. Copies could be mailed for 6 cents.

The Lutheran Sunday School in Martinsburg was planning an oyster, chicken and waffle supper in the Odd Fellows Hall over the holiday season. Proceeds were to go toward furnishing seals and lights for the Sunday School room of the new church.

The Rev. L.T. Holsinger was holding protracted services of the German Baptist Church in Martinsburg for two weeks.

Miss Julia N. Lysinger died at the home of her brother S.B. Lysinger Esq. after eight year s of suffering from sciatic rheumatism.

Schellsburg Borough was ordered by Bedford County Court to pay $966 to Clara Walter to compensate for injuries she suffered in a fall on a defective crosswalk on Pitt Street in the borough in 1891. The Herald editor observed that Martinsburg had a number of defective sidewalks and the borough could be liable.
