SC Eliminates Tech

Herald of Dec. 3 2009

The Spring Cove School District has decided not to renew the contract of its technology administrator and the position was eliminated as of Nov. 25. Cathey Schimminger had been working at the job since May 2000, and her current five-year contract was due to expire at the end of June. The agreement required that she be notified by the district of any decision relating to her employment by February. Superintendent Rodney Green said the decision was based on the needs of the district.

The deer harvest on Monday, the first day of the season, was light by most accounts, but the infestation of ticks was heavy. An early morning drizzle and lack of snow for tracking are credited for keeping the deer kill low. The tick population has been influenced by the weather as well.

Security measures have been taken at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, after an unknown person stole a 50-inch TV and video game system from the center’s activity room. The theft occurred in the Southview Apartment Building.
