Bomber Crash In Cove

The battlefront was brought to the home front in the Cove in a startling and horrible manner Sunday evening when an Army-Navy “Helldiver” fell to the earth a mile east of Martinsburg and in the resultant explosion went into thousands of fragments and three men on board were blown to bits.
The plane which was one of the Army’s high-diving bombing type, single motor, had left the Columbus airport earlier in the afternoon. It was being taken to the Middletown air base near Harrisburg.
