Corn Harvest Delayed

The yield of corn per acre is up over last year, according to area mill managers, but the drying season has left farmers in a quandary. In normal years when warm, sunny days would take care of drying corn on a stalk, the field harvest would be complete by Thanksgiving. However, a damp, cool process, pushed the close of the season to December. There are plenty of fields standing in corn while farmers try to wait out Mother Nature. The alternative is to have the corn, carrying a much higher percentage of moisture this year, dried at a feed mill.
