Republicans Win Election

Herald of Nov. 8, 1894

The November election resulted in a Republican voter landslide. Blair County gave General Hastings, the winner for Governor of Pennsylvania, a 44,147 vote plurality.

The Republicans of Martinsburg and surrounding areas had a grand parade and torch light procession, in honor of the victory at the elections. Republican residents of Martinsburg were expected to light up their homes during the ceremony.

The Herald had a promotion to obtain more subscribers in the West, by requesting subscribers to send 10 names and addresses along with their own names to the Herald office. I...
