Local Man Teaching In Iraq
Herald of Oct. 15, 2009
David Greaser of Williamsburg always wanted to work overseas. With his children grown, Mr. Greaser felt it was the right time to walk on foreign soil. He signed up with the Department of Agriculture/Foreign Agricultural Service and was deployed to Iraq as part of a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). For a man who never lived outside of Williamsburg, working a year in 120-degree heat half-way around the world was a bold step in an unknown direction.
The Spring Cove School District is investigating damage to the new $14.8 million school. Six weeks after students moved in at the new Spring Cove Elementary School, the large skylight at the main entrance of the building was dislodged. It was a teacher in-service day and there were no students in the building when the skylight was moved off its mount and landed on the nearby flat roof. The district believes it was most likely the wind that lifted the skylight and is confident that the minimal damage to the roof can be repaired with no lasting problems.
