BETTY LOU KEITH

Betty Lou Keith, 84, of Curryville, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, 2019, at Homewood at Martinsburg, following a stroke.

A funeral was held on Friday, Oct. 4, at Curryville Church of the Brethren. Pastor David Stiles officiated.

Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Betty was born on March 17, 1935, along Piney Creek, the daughter of the late Clair and Minnie (Settle) Burket.

She married John Keith Jr. on June 13, 1951. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1993.

Betty is survived by three children: Judith Brumbaugh and husband Fred of Williamsburg, Randall Keith and wife Cindy of Woodbury and Johnny Keith and wife Teresa of Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Ann Strum and husband Tom of Roaring Spring.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Leonard.

Betty attended Morrison Cove High School and was a member of Curryville Church of the Brethren.

In her younger days, her life revolved around caring for her children, milking cows, cooking and canning.

Along with her husband, she enjoyed camping, bluegrass music and traveling across all lower 48 states and Canada.

For eight years she helped her husband operate an electrical shop.

When she became a widow, she volunteered at the Morrisons Cove Home. Later, she worked at Kopp Drug for 16 years.

The last few years of her life she enjoyed working with her church family and caring for her yard.

She really enjoyed meeting her family at Stock's for ice cream on Sunday nights.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty Lou's memory may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Curryville Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 5, Curryville, PA 16631.
