PA Farm Bill has New Rules in Effect for Farm Equipment

On August 28, the increased allowable width for farm implements on the roads, made possible by the PA Farm Bill, took effect. The allowable width increased from 16 feet to 18 feet.

Under the new law, farm equipment drivers must have liability insurance. They may only travel within 50 miles of any farm operated by the owner; between farms; or between farm and mechanic or dealer within 150 miles of the farm for sale or repair, with five days’ notice to PennDOT, except in cases of emergency repairs.
