The Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation of the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons recently chose Alyssa Reed of Roaring Spring as a 2019 recipient of the Grand Lodge Higher Education Fund Scholarship for outstanding achievement and well-defined goals for future service to humanity.
This is a highly competitive program with only 52 recipients being chosen. Reed was awarded an $8,000 college scholarship to be used in her pursuit of a bachelor's degree.
Additionally, Reed has been awarded an Abbott Scholarship in the amount of $1,655 from the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Altoona; a $1,000 scholarship from the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; and a $1,000 Rev. Dr. Karen Layman Gift of Hope Scholarship from the general board of higher education and ministry of the United Methodist Church.
Reed is continuing her education at Juniata College, where she is a freshman. She is majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in Spanish.
