An East Freedom man is behind bars after police said he conspired to rob a man in Bedford County on Sept. 1.
According to charges filed by State Police, Bedford, Thomas M. Burkett, 27, robbed a man who went to a location in Bedford to meet a woman, Ashley E. Clark, 33, of Bedford for sex in exchange for $100 cash.
The victim told police that when he arrived at Clark’s residence, he and Clark went into the kitchen to talk when a male walked in wearing a mask. The victim said the male pointed a gun at him and demanded he take everything out of his pockets.
The victim told police he had a cellphone and a wallet with $100 in it, which he turned over to the man.
Police interviewed Clark who allegedly identified the man in the mask as Burkett.
Clark allegedly told police that she and Burkett had been fighting and that Burkett had left her residence. Clark told police that she then contacted the victim who met her at her house.
Clark told police that she and the victim left her residence to get food and cigarettes, and when they returned Burkett came into the kitchen with his face covered in a mask and holding a gun.
