A farming accident in North Woodbury Township, Blair County, claimed the life of a 22-year-old man last week.
Criserio Alverez Jimenez, of Martinsburg, was working on a farm along Cove Mountain Road on Friday, Aug. 30, when, at approximately 4:40 a.m., a skid loader he was operating drove into a manure pit.
Blair County Coroner Patty Ross said Jiminez was quickly immersed, causing him to suffocate.
“This was a freak accident,” Ross said. “He was working with his uncle on the farm and fell into a manure pit. A hard-working, good young man. This is so tragic.”
According to his online obituary, Jimenez was born in Rio Corozal, Las Margaritas, Chiapas, Mexico, and was currently residing in Martinsburg.
State Police, Hollidaysburg, continue to investigate the accident.
