Even the rain couldn’t keep people away from the 19th annual Pennsylvania State Singing Convention Aug. 11-14 at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, Martinsburg. A total of 179 campers were set up at the park. More than 60 groups performed for the capacity crowds.

Former Northern Bedford and Clarion University wrestling standout Jan Clark of Hopewell RD has been named as head wrestling coach at Central High School, succeeding 16-year mat coach Randy Bussard. Clark had served as head wrestling coach at Tussey Mountain from 1981 to 1991, and since then he has worked as a varsity assistant at Bedford High.

The Williamsburg VFW Post 6096 Ladies Auxiliary installed officers for 1994-95. They were Viola Bennett, president; Thelma Kifer, senior vice president; Louella Greaser, junior vice president; Kayla Greaser, guard; Ethel Moyer, treasurer; Miriam Lynn, chaplain; Francis Camaroto, conductress; and Mary Ruth Anderson, secretary.Ethel Moyer, past president, installed the officers.
