Two burglars broke into the residence of C.H. Mock in Martinsburg, gaining entrance to the home through the cellar. They were proceeding up the basement steps to the first floor when Mock discovered them, causing them to flee. Mock was unable to clearly identify them because of the darkness.
A movement was underway by several school directors in Blair County to remove all female school teachers and replace them with male counterparts. The Herald published an editorial comment that criticized the movement and demanded the directors to be more progressive.
