New School Set to Open
Herald of July 30, 2009
These are “moving in days” at the newly constructed Spring Cove Elementary School in Roaring Spring. The building will open its doors to 500 students and 50-75 staff for the first day of class on Thursday, Aug. 27.
The Spring Cove School District is preparing the building for the public to visit but especially for educating the students from the now-closed East Freedom Elementary School and Roaring Spring Elementary School.
The $14,811,856 building is finished and families will be invited to get a preview of it by attending grade-level open houses a week prior to school.
The district has planned a dedication for invited guests. The community is invited to tour the building during several open houses being planned for the fall.
The air conditioned 85,900 square-foot single-story structure accommodates five kindergarten rooms and 20 other classrooms. There are currently four classes scheduled in each grade.
The school’s colors of red and gray appear throughout the building.
