The German Seventh Day Baptist Church of Salemville held a community picnic Sunday, July 21. More than 30 people – children, parents, grandparents and community people – socialized together.
Vacation Bible School was held from July 15 until July 19 with 18 children attending. This year they studied the Life of Daniel and Babylon.
This historical church built in the 1800s was made to look like a garden in Babylon. Walls of the church were covered with blue paper with animal figures on it. Children enjoyed dressing as Bible characters, attending an outdoor bazaar and being in a tribe.
Andrew Camenga is pastor of the church. His spouse, Kristin, was in charge of the VBS. Twenty-seven others assisted with this program in some way.
Children sang songs and told what they liked about VBS as the entertainment. A large bounce house was rented for this event, and outdoor games were also set up.
The public is welcome to attend an outdoor movie, "Beyond the Mask," that will be shown at approximately 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Snacks will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring chairs.
