Officer-Involved Shooting in Roaring Spring Leaves One Dead

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at noon

One man is dead after being shot by a police officer in the parking lot of the Roaring Spring True Value Department Store at 7565 Woodbury Pike, Roaring Spring.

According to police, at approximately 4:16 p.m. Friday, July 26, police were dispatched to the area of the Dollar General store in Roaring Spring after multiple calls came into the Blair County 911 center for a man acting erratically.

The man walked to the parking lot of the Roaring Spring Department store, where a local police officer attempted to make contact with him. The man allegedly produced a firearm, prompting the officer to draw his weapon and fire.

The name of the officer and the department he works for have not been released at this time, pending an investigation of the incident.

The Pennsylvania State Police major case team arrived on the scene Friday afternoon and took over the investigation.

The deceased man, who has not been identified pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene by Blair County Coroner Patty Ross.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, at noon.
